PaddyPower.com is one of the largest gaming sites in the UK and Ireland, but it still acts like a young and hungry startup. Their marketing team is always pushing the line and getting Paddy Power in the news for better or worse. However, one thing the company always does is take care of its customers. Paddy Power holds licenses with both the Gambling Commission in the UK (view) and the Isle of Man.

Notice: This Paddy Power review is based on the personal opinions of editors at OnlineBettingSites.com.

Paddy Power was formed in 1988 after three Irish bookmakers decided to join forces. Thus, Paddy Power launched with 40 active betting shops in Ireland. The company grew from there and now offers online sports betting, casino games, poker, bingo and lotteries. They also operate more than 530 betting shops across the UK and Ireland.

If you live in one of Paddy Power’s target markets, you may already be familiar with their marketing shenanigans.

They are always up to some sort of mischief between hilarious TV ads that get banned before they even make it to television and a whole assortment of local, land-based advertisements that are sure to catch the eye. But if you look beyond the lighthearted exterior, you’ll find a numbers driven company that takes its job seriously.

Paddy Power has its roots in sports betting and that is where the company continues to concentrate today. The sheer variety of betting options is almost overwhelming with PaddyPower.com hosting wagers on dozens of sports every single day of the week. They cover all the major sports of the world in addition to niche sports and a large selection of novelty bets that you won’t find anywhere else.

Within each sport you’ll find multiple options for betting on the major leagues plus minor and amateur leagues. Each event (especially football) is often covered with upwards of a hundred different markets. Football betting is especially noteworthy with even smaller matches including a plethora of wagers ranging from betting on the exact score to who will keep a clean sheet.

Mobile sports betting is supported with apps that work on iOS and Android mobile phones and tablets. You can download these apps from the appropriate app store and then manage your account, place bets and get paid wherever you are. The apps are free to download and easy to use.

I found the odds to be competitive with other major bookmakers in most cases. For this reason, Paddy Power will serve you well as a site to do your odds shopping before you place a sports bet anywhere else. This is a very large bookmaker that can afford to cut its margins in return for attracting more total wagers from punters.

In-Play Betting

In-play marketing accounts for a significant portion of Paddy Power’s total betting handle thanks to an active “in-play betting” area that offers wagers on dozens of live events every day. Paddy Power provides live betting on football, tennis, rugby league, cricket and many other sports each week.

Paddy Power Dog Racing Live

Live streaming is available for numerous events every day as well. If you have an account, you can visit the in-play section and then look for the live streaming schedule on the right side of the page. There, you can watch matches in real time on your computer and then place short-term wagers throughout the event from the opening whistle on down to the final minutes.

Paddy Power Horse Racing and Greyhound Betting

Paddy Power offers both dog and horse racing betting through the racebook with coverage of tracks across Ireland, the UK and other parts of the world. They cover daily races with fixed odds wagers, futures for major events and tote betting markets in which your wagers are pooled with the wagers actually taken at the track and then paid at true track odds.

The horse racing markets here are plentiful with multiple races on offer every day. The majority of the action revolves around UK and Irish races, but Paddy Power does offer races from around the world from time to time. Australian and US-based races can also be found fairly frequently.

Paddy Power’s betting interface does a nice job keeping things organized and easy to find. Selecting “horse racing” form the main sports betting menu brings up a list of today’s races along with an expanded list of all tracks at which races are scheduled. You can view races farther into the future by selecting tomorrow’s races and even farther ahead than that by selecting “futures.”

Live racing video is offered for most races and no wagers are required for you to watch the races in real-time. All you need is to register an account and log in to watch the action live. However, Paddy Power is only licensed to stream races for customers located in the UK and Ireland. You can still bet on horse races if you live elsewhere, but video will not be available if you’re outside the UK/Ireland.

Tote betting is offered for all daily UK tote betting pools, with the full range of bets that would be offered if you were actually there in person. The payouts for tote pools are determined by the action taken at the track and online, so you get paid the same as people placing bets with the track itself. The types of tote bets offered at Paddy Power include win/place, exacta, trifecta, quadpot, placepot, jackpot and scoopt6.

Horse Racing Betting Tips at PaddyPower.com

Paddy Power has a tips page that offers some of the best horse racing advice I have seen published by a bookmaker to date. While other betting sites might offer a blog and some basic statistics, the tips page at Paddy Power is full of actionable information that you can seriously use to get a leg up over the competition.

Right at the top of the tips page, Paddy Power provides a list of “steamers” which are horses whose odds have dived sharply since going live. The steamers area shows what the odds were originally, what the odds are now and what the percentage change has been since then. You use this information to see which horses have received major influxes of action, which may indicate sharp money acting on information, the withdrawal of a horse or some other event that is expected to have a direct impact on that race.

In addition to steamers, the tips page lists hot trainers and cold trainers, hot jockeys and cold jockeys, horses that have multiple wins on the day’s courses, which horses have traveled the furthest and more.

Greyhound Betting at Paddy Power

It seems as though greyhound betting is becoming a forgotten sport in some parts, but you wouldn’t know it at Paddy Power. They cover numerous greyhound races every day and offer a full range of wagers for every race including outright win bets, forecasts and tricasts.

Live greyhound racing video is provided for all UK races each day. All you need is an account and the races can be streamed right on your desktop, tablet or smartphone.

Online Casino

Paddy Power hosts about 250 casino game of all different types. The game selection includes a variety of slot machines, table games, video poker and “other” games that don’t easily fit into any other category. The selection isn’t quite as large as what can be found at other gambling site, but it’s definitely big enough to satiate all but the largest gambling appetites.

Most games in the Paddy Power casino are powered by Playtech although you will find a few other games by the likes of NetEnt and IGT. One thing I like about the casino is the ability to sort the games by type, popularity, jackpot and even ease of play. You can play most of the games online at PaddyPower.com with no download, but they do offer actual software clients for the PC and most mobile devices.

One other thing that I noticed is that Paddy Power does not have a “reverse withdrawal” option by default. What this means is that once you submit a withdrawal request, there is no option to cancel the withdrawal and return the money to your account. Many casino sites have such an option, and its purpose is to tempt players to cancel their withdrawals and lose the money. If you want to turn on the option, you can, but you have to log in to your settings area to activate it.

If you’re a slots fan, you’ll be right at home. Slots account for more than half the total games at Paddy Power and are provided by numerous developers. The Playtech series includes a healthy variety of 3D games, Marvel slots and more based on movie and entertainment brands such as the Sopranos and Gladiator. You’ll also find more than 60 jackpot games with an assortment of fixed and progressive jackpots. At the time of this review, multiple jackpots topped €2 million.

Live Dealer Games

Paddy Power Woman

The live casino at Paddy Power offers roulette, blackjack, casino Holdem and baccarat all powered by Playtech’s live gaming division. A few dozen tables are open at any given time with dealers for each, so you won’t often have any trouble finding a seat at the game you want. People on the internet seem to love the Playtech dealers, and I tend to agree. They are competent, interactive and easy on the eyes.

You will also find a few exclusive tables that are open only to Paddy Power members (Playtech serves a few casino sites). The exclusive tables are always worth a look as the dealers there are paid specifically to take special care of Paddy Power customers.

Betting limits at the live casino vary from table to table, but the lowest I saw was £0.50 per round and the highest was £20,000. You can also request higher limits if you need them.

Paddy Power Poker

The poker room at Paddy Power has a healthy user base thanks to its player sharing agreement with the iPoker Network. Thousands of players from numerous betting sites play on iPoker, so traffic here is definitely above average in comparison to other sites. Cash games, tournaments and a long list of ever-changing promotions make this just as strong an offering as any standalone poker site.

Cash games are spread in USD and EUR at stakes ranging from 0.02/0.04 to as high as 5/10 NL and 20/40 FL. The cash games here are about average in terms of difficulty. Sometimes it seems like everyone is brand new to poker, and other times it feels like a mix between average and good players. They also have a version of fast-fold poker cash games in which every time you fold your hand, you are instantly moved to another table and dealt into another hand without having to wait an entire round like you would in a normal cash game.

Tournament players have quite a bit to look forward to every day of the week as well. Between the standard SNGs, Twister SNGs and steps, Paddy Power has an active SNG scene. Multi-table tournaments come in all different types, with the single biggest regular tournament being a €100K guarantee every Sunday.

Owing to its Irish roots and UK presence, Paddy Power is always hosting some satellite or another to send players to major poker events in both areas. They recently sent a bunch of players to the Irish Poker Open and will probably do so again next year. Of course, you’ll still find satellites to the WSOP in Las Vegas every year.

Overall, Paddy Power Poker does an admirable job at providing real money poker for its customers. The only real complaint that I have is a major lack of support for Mac and mobile users. Paddy Power does have an instant play option, but I’ve never been able to get it to work and have heard similar complaints from other Mac users. This seems to be a problem with the entire iPoker Network. I do not know of any iPoker site that is accessible to Mac users.

Bingo

Paddy Power’s bingo rooms is one of the best on the market. As you may know, bingo is a social game and Paddy Power is great at being social. They have a ridiculously talented marketing team and are very good at both attracting new players and keeping in touch with existing customers. This keeps the bingo room active, the players engaged and the promotions entertaining.

Game types include 75-ball, 80-ball and 90-ball variants plus the usual assortment of Deal or No Deal games, Who Wants to be a Millionaire and a variety of rolling jackpot games with prizes that sometimes top £1,00,000. They also host daily free games that cost absolutely nothing to enter with real money prizes for the winners.

They organize the bingo lobby in a way that makes way more sense than most other bingo sites. Each game type is clearly explained and lists the number of players, card prices, prizes and whether or not a chat moderator is present to host chat game and talk with the players. If you ever need a break from bingo, you can always try your luck in a variety of slot machines and scratch cards.

Customer Support

No Paddy Power review would be complete with addressing customer support. The Paddy Power website has a large support centre that can answer most questions without you even having to contact anyone. If you do need help, however, you can contact support 24 hours a day by phone, live chat and e-mail.

Additionally, Paddy Power has a Twitter account designed just for customer support at @AskPaddyPower. I like the fact that they don’t run from the public like many other betting sites. Paddy Power is not afraid to let players post questions publicly and provide answers that can be seen by all. To me, this shows confidence in both their product and their support personnel.

Restricted Territories

One of the only major downsides of Paddy Power is an extensive list of restricted territories. As a licensed bookmaker, PaddyPower.com is conservative in who it will accept as a customer. People from the following countries and territories are not accepted:

Paddy Power accepts most major sportsbook deposit methods so you shouldn’t have any issues getting your account funded. They also have a reputation for processing withdrawals faster than most other sites. On average, Paddy Power completes withdrawals within 2-3 business days.

Accepted Currencies

When you sign up for an account at Paddy Power, you will be asked to select Euros or Pounds Sterling as your primary account currency. If you use any other currency at home, Paddy Power will convert all deposits to either Euro or Pounds Sterling depending on which of those you chose when you signed up for your Paddy Power account.

One of the nice little features Paddy Power offers is a serviced called “dynamic currency conversion” for deposits and withdrawals that require currency conversions. If you choose to use this feature, Paddy Power will guarantee the exact amount of money that will be debited from / credited to your card rather than relying on whatever the bank rate happens to be when the transaction is finalized. This service is optional at all times.

The first big competition of 2021 sees the Best Car Parks Gold Cup in Shelbourne Park taking centre stage on Saturday night with some of the best greyhounds in the country kicking off the year with a bang. Last year’s reigning champion Ballymac Anton was retired at the back end of last year so a new champion will be crowned.

With the Dowling Kennel winning two of the last three renewals of this competition, This year they are doubly represented with the talented duo of Ballymac Art and Ballymac Cashout. Both are hugely talented individuals but I am going to pick 4 dogs to keep an eye out for during the competition.

Deadly Samuri

My main fancy is Deadly Samuri, this dog runs in Heat 6 and I fancy him to run a massive race. He started his career winning the Champion Unraced in Kilkenny before moving to Shelbourne Park where he missed the kick on his first start but has managed to rattle off three wins on the bounce with his most impressive performance last time out when winning at the Winter Festival when blasting from trap 5 and making all, posting a very fast 28:15.

He will be tested by the likes of Clona Hawk and Iconic Rory but with that stunning early speed, he is my main fancy for outright honours.

Catchmeflying

My next fancy is Catchmeflying in Heat 3. This dog started his career a year ago when rattling off two wins back to back at Kilkenny for local trainer Thomas Bugg.

He then moved to Shelbourne where he managed to reach the semi-final of the Irish derby, but really found his feet a month later when posting a scorching 27:98. The last time this dog graced a track was at the winter festival when missing the break from traps hampering his chances and ended up a running on into second on that start.

He is up against it with the likes of Jaytee Japan running well the last few weeks but Catchmeflying has gone faster than any other greyhound in the competition and if he starts on terms with certainly make a bold bid at the current price.

Ballymac Art

The next fancy is Ballymac Art, running in the opening heat. This lady has ran in the last two major competitions for bitches, getting to the finals on both occasions. Just shy of her 3rd birthday, this lady has been a real superstar for the Dowling’s.

She won the semi-finals of The Oaks when blasting from boxes on that occasion and making all. Unfortunately, the draw wasn’t kind to her in the final but she is back wearing the red jacket and that should certainly aid her chances.

When last seen running in the Christmas Oaks she completely flopped from box’s and her chance was hampered thereafter. Cornerhouse Lady ran a super race last week to win and Laurels runner up Blastoff Fire will give her plenty to do but I think if she keeps getting her draw towards the fence I think this one could go well at the odds on offer.

Romeo On Fire

Paddy Power Dog Racing Videos

My final fancy and possibly the most exciting of the four is Romeo on Fire, this young dog only started his career three months ago and already looks a super prospect. This youngster started his career in Tralee when making the final of the unraced but finding trouble on the night didn’t help his cause.

Paddy Power Dog Racing

Following on from this he went to Clonmel and scorched around in 28;41 winning quiet comfortably by 7 lengths. He ran his first race in Shelbourne last week stepping into open company he really showed his class when popping from traps and winning with some authority.

He is drawn in trap 1 which I am not entirely sure will suit as he possibly would prefer a middle berth. He has Ballymac Cashout on his immediate outside which I know is held in high regard by the Dowling’s, but if he can track the leaders I think this youngster will progress with each run under his belt and could land outright honours at a very attractive price.
